I am creating this blog to chronicle the happenings in my life for my friends and family. I live almost 600 miles away from my family now and I think they are entitled to know whats going on with me from time to time. Also, some (not just one) of my friends up and moved clear across the country so time differences and schedule availability makes it impossible to catch up with them, so now they will know whats going on with me.
Here it is December 31, 2009 and I am so ready for 2010. One of the biggest changes that will take place will be my Sisterlock installation happening on Jan 19 and 20. My test babies will go in on Jan 12. So expect a lot of "on my head" posts in addition to the "in my head" posts.
My only resolution for 2010 is to keep up with this blogging thing making sure I post at least once a week.
More about me
Right now, I am in the middle of my third year of graduate school at the Medical University of South Carolina. At 24, I am the youngest third year PhD student I know. It's a little weird from time to time. I am a scientist in training. Hopefully, I will get my PhD in biomedical science in 2012. On a sidenote, I am growing tired of school. It has been about 20 years nonstop. It doesn't even feel like I have two bachelor's degrees. Boo to that. I work in a natural products lab focusing on the prevention of colon cancer. That's right... prevention not cure or therapy. Novel ideas in a twisted world. I'm sure I'll vent my frustrations and good times with school more this year.
I live with my boyfriend and our two dogs Giavonna and Sincere. Giavonna is a Bichon Frise who makes her own decisions in the doggy world. Sincere is an adopted hound/terrier mix whose job is to listen to Gigi. Gigi will be 3 on 3/3/10 and Sincere will be 2 on 9/13/10. I can't imagine my life without them.
My boyfriend is a chef... no worries, he doesn't cook for me. He works at a fabulous resort here on Kiawah Island specializing in 'lo' country cuisine'. We've been together for I don't know how long now but its hard to keep track because I've known him since I was 15. When people ask us how long we've been together we tend to say the first thing that pops into our minds. Sometimes it's 8 years, some times it's 3 years. Haha.
I'll post pictures of our family and my hair in its various stages on my next post.
Until next time
